FROM DOWNLOAD TO DIALOGUE
Your picture. A new conversation.
Place a blank speech bubble over your picture, add a line of dialogue, and aim its tail toward the speaker. A PNG keeps the area around the shape transparent.
Add your own wordsUsing your PNG
- Choose a shape and select Download PNG.
- Place the PNG as a new image or layer in your design app.
- Add text inside the shape and leave a little breathing room.
The checkerboard is only a transparency preview; it is not part of the downloaded file. Each PNG has a transparent outer canvas and a filled bubble interior.

Choose a blank speech bubble PNG for your design
The library contains empty speech balloons with no text baked in. Use a classic rounded bubble for a conversation, a round comic balloon for dialogue, a jagged burst for a shout, or a rectangle caption for narration. The white fill keeps words readable over a photo; the area around each shape is transparent.
These are original raster shapes. If you need a hand-drawn texture, a brand-specific phone interface or vector files, this collection does not provide those assets.
| Shape | Good starting point | How to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Classic or round | Dialogue, quotes and cartoon speech | Point the tail toward one visible speaker. |
| Shout burst | An exclamation or action word | Keep the text brief so it fits the spiky silhouette. |
| Rectangle caption | A time, place or narrator’s line | Place it away from faces; it does not need a tail. |
| Pixel dialogue | A retro image or game mockup | Pair it with pixel lettering in the pixel maker. |
Clipart & colors
Use speech bubble clipart in photos, comics and slides
Place a downloaded text bubble PNG above your image as a separate layer. Add your own lettering inside it, leaving clear space around the edges. Preserve the shape’s proportions when resizing; stretching the width and height separately can distort the outline.
The Colorful filter includes a yellow shout burst and a lavender chat shape. To make a blue, white or another colored speech bubble, select Edit on a card and change its fill and outline. The saved download reflects your changes; the original blank file remains available in the library.
For a comic book speech bubble with text already placed on a panel, use the comic bubble maker. For unspoken thoughts, choose a transparent thought cloud PNG.
File details
What “speech bubble with no background” means
Every original download is a 1024 × 768 PNG. The bubble occupies part of that transparent canvas, so its visible outline is smaller than the full file dimensions. The checkerboard shown on this site is a preview aid and is not embedded in the PNG.
A white bubble interior is intentional: it separates your text from the picture behind it. If you need the photo to show through the shape, open the bubble in the editor and change its fill. A fully transparent interior gives the words less protection against a busy photo.
Some image viewers display transparency as white or black. Place the PNG over a colored layer to check the outside area. For larger customized artwork, export from the editor and inspect the result before using it in a layout.
The original shape usage terms cover personal and commercial designs without required attribution. They cover these blank shapes; your photo and any other artwork need their own permissions.
BEFORE YOU DOWNLOAD
A clear little answer.
Can I use these in commercial work?
Yes. These original blank shapes may be used in personal and commercial designs, with or without attribution. See Shape usage for the scope of this permission.
Can I change the colors or add text?
Select Edit on a card to open that original shape in the maker. Change its text, fill, outline and tail, then export your own version.
Why is the inside of the bubble white?
Transparent background refers to the space outside the bubble. The white or colored fill inside keeps dialogue readable over a busy picture.
Are SVG or animated GIF files available?
This collection provides static PNG files. The editor exports PNG, JPG, WebP and animated GIF. Open a template with Edit to animate it; SVG downloads are not available.
